TAIMSINTE AR DO THUAMA (GAELIC)

Please think kindly of Sinead O’Connor.
She was just one of us, a poet.
You may not know her or you may not care
but she really was a poet ,
and if you look at the things she wrote
you’ll see when I read her, why I choke.
She didn’t write this poem,
but she would have if she could.
She pulled this out of history.
She treated this Irish beauty with loving care
as though it came from her own soul,
and I think in a way it really did.
But she wrote magnificent poetry.
She lived life harder than us
who’s to say how we would be
if we shared her seat on a bus.
What a sin if this beautiful dark poem
were to lie dormant in history
never to be seen again,
never to know what lies
in some other emotional persons eyes
