Disco Ball

Try to pretend for a while
your life could be as
a giant disco ball.
It was huge and shiny
on the day you were born..
Your mirrors were bright
and your little smile said
“ I’ll be your friend “.
The mirrors turned
so many different colors
to remind you of,
of where you have been.
Gorgeous colors and
exciting different hues
your first car
your first girlfriend
the first love you felt
your first cigarette
the first time you drank
your first baby on the way
and you’re still a baby yourself.
But, who’s to know
what love really is?
At 18 I knew it all
but what followed
made so many of
my mirrors turn black.
I never knew there
were so many shades
and I almost found out,
the color of insanity
Most of my mirrors
have been colored in.
The mirrors left belong
to you and you alone
I’m not a friend of Plato
inside I am screaming and
for you was there any meaning ?
I guess it doesn’t matter.
You see my cord is frayed
the disco ball that is my life
will soon be crashing to the ground
